Our Story
They say that everybody has a story and here is ours. My name is A.J. May and at the the ripe old age of 16 I started a business called Void Media. Void Media is a small business geared to helping individuals, and small business to install, upgrade and maintain their computer technology; Void Media also designs logos, marketing materials and web sites. Impressive, I know. Naturally, I attended Bergen County Technical High School where I was able to major in Digital Media. Along the way I was trained by some pretty interesting teachers, but more than that I found a peer group of also very young and equally talented individuals.
Nearing graduation I was of course faced the question of, “what are you going to do for the rest of your life?” My mom was convinced I would pursue a major in computers and web design and so she created the “college spreadsheet”. However, I taught myself pretty much all there is to know about computers, and I had developed quite an extensive portfolio of marketing designs and web sites, so decided to major in the music industry and to study that major at Drexel University, (there goes the spread sheet!). And as history has a tendency to repeat itself, I have been taught by many interesting professors at Drexel but I have had the pleasure to meet more talented individuals who share my passion for music.
Hmmmm. marketing, passion for music...I’m thinking ... record company. And so Void Records was born and now I work with all of my talented friends both old and new. Now I bet you are asking yourself, “what does all of this have to do with Groove Magazine? Groove Magazine is an outlet for us to share with our generation our talent, creativity, our life style, and most of all our passion for music and for life. That is our story and we are sticking to it. Enjoy the magazine!
